Sleepless, Insight of a Fool

By The Parodist | January 21, 2007

Yes, I am a fool.

Have you ever had trouble sleeping, when a nagging embarassment keeps you awake?

Like the time you said something completely stupid. Or when you cause someone to lose hours of work. Or when you practically caused your friend’s first driving accident.

Yep, we are all human. Nobody’s perfect, and mistakes will happen. But it doesn’t make it any more bearable. You run through various scenarios, thinking “should’ve, would’ve, could’ve.”

But losing some sleep this way does have a benefit: the embarassment is now gone. You’ve decided to move on. You realize it isn’t the end of the world.

So now that I’ve dealt with my mistakes, they don’t feel so bad anymore. I’m not a fool after all.

And now, I close my eyes and join la-la land. No longer am I sleepless.

Thanks, Rico.
