Photo Day with Bloggers at the Balloon Fiesta

Hot Air Balloon

CLARK FIELD, Pampanga, February 10, 2007 — I, together with a number of bloggers went to the 11th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta for a day of fun and photography.

Hot Air Balloon

I have to admit that it’s the first time I’d seen a hot air balloon get blown up and then float away. Twas an awesome experience. Getting to share it with a group of blogger friends made it more special! *aherm*

The newly-weds, Marc and Gail, were there.

Markku came with his new set of rims and his *gulp* paparazzi lens! (He hasn’t blogged about it! Que horror! But he did upload his photos! )

New blogger I got to meet was Joey, aka jobarclix, who came with Markku.

The unruffled Jayvee, who remained cool except when he’s behind the camera, was present.

Abe, teh godfather, came with a specific agenda for his photo project — to take photos of pretty women balloons! (Or was that Markku?) ;)

Rico was there but he excused himself to take a much needed power nap back in the car, which explains his apparent absence in the photos, save one. LOL.

Since it’s my first try to somewhat test my photo-ing skills using my new camera, I tried taking balloon photos but was not particularly happy with them, so, I turned to taking photos of the bloggers while they lavish on the opportunity to indulge in their lust for photography instead.

There were three photos I liked. Two were the ones I took when Markku let me borrow his polarizing lens (?) — I loved that lens. Not perfect but liked how the photos turned out. Hehe.

Warzone Oh Lookie!

The other one is a photo I took using the 50mm lens I bought. I don’t know the guy but, hey, I like how it somehow captured what the Balloon Fiesta was about — in my eyes — a photographer’s own little heaven.

Coolness. I regret not staying for the night show. I saw photos and they were absolutely gorgeous. Ah, well. I know I’m not ready for that kind of photography anyway. Hehe.

I had fun even when I had no sleep and the heat was tiresome. You guys should go next year!

I’m going to leave you with this photo —

Guess Who?!

Can you guys guess who this guy is? Hehe.

Note: Mouse over the photos and you’ll find a link that can bring you to a larger view. BTW, I didn’t upload the high-res so don’t expect high quality photos. Incidentally, you think I should? Upload high res photos, I mean? Gah. I really have to work double time on that gallery thing. Heh.

Oh, yea — some of the photos I included in this post were taken by Markku using my 400D!

were the balloons powered by politicos’ speeches? :D

  7. The Parodist

Jester: Nope. They’re all adverts for pure branding purposes. Er, unless I was too naive to notice. Heh. ;)

  8. sexy mom

nice pictures. we were not lucky, we went on the last day, but we were late for the morning flight of balloons.

  9. The Parodist

Sexy Mom: Thanks! :) I hope you got to see the night show, though! Or the kite-flying thingie, at least. We missed that, too. I know I would’ve loved watching those two events had we stayed for them. :(
