You may know business but I know blogging

By The Parodist | March 20, 2007

In the last few months, there are some important things that I learned.

  1. The values you put in your work and how much of your work is valued.
  2. Successful blogging is not measured purely on statistics or on expertise or on heart but a combination of all three.
  3. Never go into blog business with someone who don’t know squat about blogging.

On point number one, for people in the know, I’m sure I’ve already mentioned that this is the reason why I hit that button. ;) I am the type who can cut off people whom I believe I’d rather not have around me. I’m an advocate of surrounding yourselves with individuals who can edify you and your work. Call it burning bridges but, hey, sometimes it’s better to take precautionary measures than totally corrupting yourself.

Point number two, I’ve been in this business of blogging for a while now and, hell, I’ve been measuring my performance from the start. All I can say about this matter is, it’s a learning process and two weeks for learning curve is simply ain’t enough. And yea, some part of what makes blogging successful for the blogger happens offline.

Last point, one of the things I frown upon is for an individual to look down upon blogging and bloggers without giving them enough credit — then I find out that this person went into the business of blogging?! WTF?! This person doesn’t even believe in bloggers, much less value them. He’s not even a blogger himself. That’s why he didn’t go into this business with bloggers but with people he considered “the big guns” aka “real writers” instead. How insulting.

Come on. Tell me I got the whole thing wrong. I dare ‘ya.
