How do you guys like the new look? Is it snazzy or what?
I had plans of changing the template eversince I moved to my own domain November of last year but I encountered a few snags:
- Too busy with the day job. It’s also a reason why it took me a long time before I actually spent time fixing up my new home. BUT I had solved that problem.
- I only learned how to use FTP a couple of months ago. Funny, twas a non-blogger who taught me the beauty of Filezilla. He’s a programmer, though. (Thanks, Eric!)
- Failed bugging. I thought I was annoying as hell whenever I bugged Rico to help me out. I reckon I should’ve took it up a notch.
- Never found the right template. I had wanted one with less frills and customising headaches. I wanted a clean, crisp look. Never found one that came close as the one this blog’s sporting now.
As luck would have it (or was it fate?) that I stumbled upon RockinThemes of Cory Miller and Nathan Rice, this morning as I was going about the business of blogging on my problogs. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining! Looking at my blog now, I appreciate the distraction. I’ll catch up on work later. Hehe.
Best part about this whole experience of changing themes is getting to learn more about CSS. Sheesh. I’m no techie. I’m such a dweeb when it comes to CSS, hence, the need to bug (please see snag #3). I did a bit of tweaking before and, let me tell you this, it was a long and tedious task! Gawd. However, with a few questions raised (via Google Talk), Rico directed me to an online tutorial on how to overcome my CSS concern — how to get them wp-smileys in line (they were all over the place!
). Yes. I successfully tamed the smileys! AND finished the whole thing, template and all, in under 3 hours! Coolness.
Anyway, do let me know if you like how I renovated the place. I do appreciate your thoughts.
P.S. You’ll get an invite to the blog-warming party!

Loving the new look… It seems to fit the blog a lot better than the last theme
Karla: Gald you agree!
Rick: This template sure is cluttered-looking. So, clean and un-complicated! Thanks for letting me know you like it!
Jonic: Hey, Jonic! Nice of you drop by my humble abode. I just might take you up on your offer. Brings back memories of that time we, er, you were working on Light the Torch‘s new look. Hehe. About the previous theme — yea, I have to agree with you. That’s why I’ve been itching to change templates for the longest time!
I like your new banner. Classy. I can almost hear that song playing in the background, the tinkling of the piano keys…
“Let’s sit and talk awhile…in the one world…of Nescafe…”
Seriously, though. Great new look.
Jonas: LOL. It’s my only chance to let visitors know that this blog’s feminine!
Gawd. I can almost hear you singing that while typing it. (Go on, admit it!)
Thanks, man! Glad you like it!
I have to agree with Jonas. Supper classy and feminine theme. Just like you.
So, what’s next for Sasha the blogger?
Rico: Aw, such sweet words can take you anywhere. Bolero.
As for plans, I have yet to fix my gallery. Perhaps a photoblog? Hehe. Will get to that after you take me to the two beaches I want to go to.
How’d you get the smileys in line? Help!
Smileys on my blog make the line they’re on taller… and they make me frown ‘coz of this.
Oh… I forgot… nice Rockin theme!!!
Luis: Thanks!
When you find out, you’ll realise how simple it is! Hehe. It’s all in the padding. Make sure you add this code on your stylesheet CSS:
#content p img.wp-smiley {border: 0;
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
}
More info can be found in WP’s Codex.
clean, professional and with a touch of class. I first thought I came to the wrong blog
Sonnie: LOL. I know what you mean! That’s why I knew I had to do a post on the new theme. Hehe. Thanks!
Obviously, this theme was a welcome change for The Parody!
And for the nth time I’m NOT a bolero.
Rico: You’re not?
Yea, the theme is a fresh new look for my personal blog. It somehow inspires me to spend more “quality” time with it. Hehe.
Sowsi!!!
Aileen: Isn’t it? You like? Hehe.
kala ko this blog is still practicing the “CSS Naked” thingie eh… hehe! reinvention is always something welcomed and appreciated… nice work! Gail will be making a custom theme for me too!! yehey!
Neat and elegant.
Yes, I confess…
I was singing it.
It’s nice and looks almost Zen. I wish I’ll have time to learn about FTP too:)
Marcvill: I learned about that CSS event via Markku’s blog. Didn’t realise that there’s such a thing in existence. Good on you, hubby! I’m sure it’ll be some kick-ass theme that Gail can make for ‘ya!
Connie: Thanks po!
Jonas:
I knew it! Heh.
Ajay: Yea, it’s bare and c-l-e-a-n! Less hassle me thinks. Hehe. Oh, just download a Filezilla and I’m sure you’ll learn it in a jiff! You pa!
I love the theme!
Ade: Hi! Thanks. Glad you like it!
its professional… like the templates in Microsoft Word.. Pro. =)
