Pack Energy, Eat Breakfast

Almond Crunch Breakfast CerealsI’ve heard it said that to start your day right, you’ve got to eat breakfast. This meal will simply give you the energy boost you’ll need to go about your activities for the day. Well, of course, you’d still need to eat a mid-day meal or lunch, snacks in the afternoon and dinner to sustain the energy and for obvious health reasons. Hehe.

I know some people who don’t love breakfast as I do. Yes, it’s a fact that I do love eating breakfast meals. Sometimes, I even eat them for lunch or dinner, or lunch AND dinner. LOL. I don’t know why I don’t get tired of them. Come to think of it, is it wrong to eat breakfast all day, everyday? I sure hope not. Heh.

Anyway, here are my personal picks for breakfast options:

  1. Almond Crunch breakfast cereals (finished two boxes since I’ve been eating it for a whole week), Cornflakes (plain or frosted), Cocoa Puffs, Fruit Loops
  2. English Breakfast or the Aussie Breakfast, which includes Bacon, Tomatoes, Eggs (sunny side up or scrambled), Toast with butter and jam or Vegemite
  3. French Toast with a side of Bacon from Pancake House. Of course, I also love their Pancakes, Spanish Omelette and Waffles all with a side of Bacon. I love Bacon. LOL.
  4. Maling! aka Luncheon meat, the mystery meat. (No, I’m not asking what it’s made of, please don’t spoil it for me)
  5. Pan de Manila’s Pandesal, sunny side up eggs or strawberry jam

When I was in Australia, I guzzled Nippy’s fresh orange juice on the rocks every morning. OMG. I was addicted! Probably the same way I am with English tea (black tea with milk) and, of course, coffee, esp Starbuck’s Soy Latte.

For people who can’t think of consuming solids so early in their day, I recommend eating fruits and drinking plenty of water. But I still think a hearty serving of the meals I enumerated will give you the energy you will need.

BTW, another reason I have on why I’m focusing on the importance of eating breakfast is that it will help me gain weight, hence, this post. I need all the positive reinforcement, you see. Heehee.

What about you guys? What’s on YOUR list? Do you even like breakfast? LOL. Tell me, I’d really love to know. :D

I only eat breakfast when I travel! And I usually eat tosilog or longsilog and then I end up getting fat! Grrrrr. I don’t eat breakfast at home, I’d rather use the time to sleep kasi :)

  2. The Parodist

Aileen: You’re not fat! Anuba. Yes, you’re one of the people I know who don’t like eating breakfast! Oh, yea! I should have included the “-SiLog” meals on my list! Thanks for sharing!

If ever you get to that point when you want to lose weight, oatmeal, fruits, and wholewheat bread are your best bets. Kind of boring but definitely healthy and we will all get to that point when we want to eat something healthy sometime. For those who want to gain weight, rice, fried eggs, and any viand is the best way to go. Champorado with tuyo might be good too.

  4. The Parodist

Angel: Thanks. I sometimes wish I have that problem. Hehe. But no, I reckon a healthy weight is just fine for me and I’m going to get there by eating just right. :) Oh, yea! I love Champorado with tuyo, too! Darnit. Why did I even forget to include that? Arrggh.

  5. Sophie

Way back in college, I hated the taste of fried food in the morning, so I resorted to eating canned fruits in the morning, then, my tummy slowly complained. Lol. Then it was Milo ( ice ice cold milo ), then now, it’s Milk Tea in the morning. :) I only eat Filipino breakfast when I’m travelling, too. :) I don’t know why! :)

  6. The Parodist

Sophie: I reckon that there are some tummies that are quite sensitive and slow to fully wake up in the morning, hence, the need to gradually fill it up in order to avoid upsetting it. I have a theory on why people eat more when traveling, it’s probably because the adrenalin caused by the excitement that travel brings heightens the appetite. What do you think? ;) BTW, tea is good for the skin so it’s a good habit that you picked up, er, but I think you already know that!

  7. AnP

I usually do not eat breakfast. But I change my mind whenever I see the breakfast buffet, especially in Dutch hotels. Yummmm!

  8. The Parodist

AnP: You, too? My list keeps growing longer and longer. I think there’s something delectable about breakfast buffets. I always look forward to tasting the sweetness of the maple syrup and, at the same time, savouring the fluffy pancakes or waffles, munching on cripy bacon strips, eating the salty-sweet longganisa or tocino (which I think won’t be found in Dutch hotels, hehe), and smelling the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Darnit. Now, I feel like checking in a hotel just to enjoy a breakfast buffet.

  9. Tina

I love breakfast. Favorite meal ever! I could eat cereals all day if I could. :) Lemme see…

    1. I love Almond Crunch too. Plus Banana Nut Clusters, I think? I also like Fitnesse and Fruit. Yum yum. :) Of course, there’s the frosted flakes and Koko Krunch. Gotta love Koko Krunch.
    2. I love the Pinoy breakfast meals (as in tapsilog, longsilog) but I also love a mix of others. I want to try prepare that Aussie breakfast. :D Oh yeah, scrambled eggs with cheese or cheese and mushroom omelet == yummy.
    3. Maling lover here too! I consider that as my comfort food back when I was at the dorm. Of course, there’s lots of MSG there…but I don’t eat it THAT often. :D
    4. That pandesal and eggs and strawberry jam is making me hungry. Haha I waaant.

I think that’s why I also love Somethin’ Fishy’s breakfast buffet (P89 eat all you can breakfast from 12mn to 10am at Eastwood). :D Or any kind of breakfast buffet. Again, YUM. :9

  10. dexie

i only eat breakfast during the weekends with the Family. it’s our weekend tradition(eggs, bacon, toast or ‘taters). if we’re on the road(early shopping, etc), I love Hardee’s pork chop biscuit :) . i’m mostly a brunch person. but if my favorite cereal, Kellogs Fruit Harvest Peaches and Strawberry is on sale I buy a box and try to remember to eat a bowl in the morning :)

  11. AnP

yes! I sometimes pig out and para di masawa, I alernate matamis and maalat. hahaha

  12. The Parodist

Tina: Yay! I’ve found an ally! Wow. Something Fishy has an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet?! The price isn’t bad at all! I reckon I should pay them a visit one of these days. Hehe. It’s cool to find out that we like the same things, yeah? (/covers my ears on that bit about the Maling. Heh.)

Dexie: Oh noes. You, too? Egad. Why, oh, why? Hmmm. That bit about the pork chop biscuit sounds interesting. Are you sure it’s breakfast food? What does it taste like? Is it like a pork sandwich or something? (Can’t you tell I’m so curious cuz of all my questions?) LOL.

AnP: Good idea! Wait a minute, what does a Dutch hotel offer in their breakfast buffet anyway? Now, I’m curious. Come on, make my mouth water!

  13. dexie

yes it’s breakfast food. i tried to find a picture of it at Hardee’s website but it’s a limited item so it’s not there anymore. i love pork so when the fast food resto introduced it i was sooo happy..LOL. and for breakfast no less.

it’s either a breaded-fried small piece of pork chop or a grilled one in between halves of buttermilk biscuit. ahh it’s delicious :) .

  14. The Parodist

Dexie: Eeep. I thought I responded to your comment na! Goodness. The only pork I’d love to eat in the morning is bacon! But that sounds yummy, I wonder if I’d find a resto here, which serves that. Hmmm. :D
