Can your drinking glass tell your drink’s temperature?
I betcha it can’t. Ha. Well, not unless you own one of these. It’s a Coca-Cola Drinking Glass and, yes, it can actually tell if your drink is cold or warm. Er, I’m not quite certain what’ll happen if you put in a hot drink since I dare not experiment with the thin glass make. Heh.
How does it do it, you ask? If you look at the photo, the image below the Coca-Cola logo — the one with the Coke bottle — it’s in red (and white) colour, right? That means the drink is cold. However, if it’s warm or just room temperature, the red part will take on a pink-ish hue and the white part remains the same. Cool, eh? Believe me, I was so giddy like a kid when I tried it out the first time and I even went “Oh, mum LOOOOOK!!!” and I turned on the webcam to show it to Ricowums who also has one, I might add.
I (we) got it from the open mic portion of the Taste Asia event (courtesy of SM Hypermarket) last week. People were invited to grab the mic and plug whatever they wanted to plug. Funny cuz we got to plug for free and we even got a freebie for it. How’s that for a marketing strategy? I’d say it’s like a give-and-give set-up. LOL.
Anyway, you can also read up on my other ramblings about the event:

Why are you linking to me with “ricowums”?
Rico: It’s sooo cute eh! You no likey?
Oist. Did you get to try out your own drinking glass? Isn’t it cool? /says she who has mababaw na kaligayahan
Must be some chemical embedded in the glass.
Juned: Are you talking about something like Litmus paper or something? I reckon it’s that image part. The design is sticked onto the glass. What do you think?
Maybe we should all start calling Rico, Ricowums, just for kicks. Hehehe.
It’s definitely chemistry in action. My officemate has a card keychain where a part of the design changes color depending on the temperature. I even had a wristwatch way, way before that changes its face background color with the temperature as well. I had fun turning the face color navy blue by placing it in front of the aircon.
Eugene: Looks like somebody’s having fun. These sort of things make us feel like kids again, huh?
Oist. Be nice to Ricowums. Don’t be like that!
