I Have Found My Cookie Haven

Nothing beats having coffee with a delish piece of soft, chewy cookie, complete with chocolate chips and nuts. Mmmm. Hence, when I stepped into Mrs. Fields Cookie Café Launch in Manila Pavilion on United Nations Avenue last night, a couple of hours late and with an already full stomach, I didn’t hesitate in grabbing a sample of what they’re popular for — their cookies. I lost count on just how much I ate. LOL.
I failed to sample the coffee — which was a bit disappointing — and the cold frappe-like beverages, so, this failed to give me the complete experience of what the night was for, launch of a café. All I remember of the night was the succulent taste of chocolate and dough, mixed with the sensation of chewing on its softness without fear of crumbs on my Mango tunic. Call me, anal but hey, that’s how I like my cookies. I blame my sister for letting me sample her first batch of chewy, chocolate chip cookies, an assignment for home economics me thinks, when I was a kid. I’d buy biscuits if I want crumbs. Heh.
Naming their establishment “Cookie Café” certainly opened them up for ridicule esp if they find themselves sudden targets of fanatics or scorned customers, which is quite possible seeing that they’re entering a very competitive niche. They can be called “the cooky café” referring to the definition of the word “cooky” as “something a bit strange”. However, IMHO, I find the name adorable and suits them real fine since they are primarily an establishment serving cookies but now offering hot and cold beverages to wash it all down in a very modern, brightly-lit, and very red place. Hehe. Not a novel concept, really, but still cool, anyway.

The night was spent on talks of love, photography, books and shopping with friends and new acquaintances. The place did create a good atmosphere for that specific purpose, which was good. I just couldn’t shake off the feeling that we were in a restaurant and I’m waiting for us to move to a café to continue hanging out. Funny, yeah?
Anyway, now I understand why my bestfriend loves their cookies. They taste positively divine! I, together with my brother, enjoyed the small cookie loot I brought home. Consider me addicted. Gah. I reckon I’ll be paying them a visit again real soon. I wonder if they make a Soy Latte as good as Starbuck’s. Hmmm. If they do then life will be complete. LOL.

Great photo tableau! Reminds me very much of your Style Manila Market Night post.
Too bad we came late. We could’ve scored more goodies if we were on time!
too bad we missed you, My husband was in a hurry to go home and rest.
You are my best photographer ever ever ever!!! Hehehe. Buti sumama ako. Bakit kami ni Sorsi we got stuck on the first topic? Haha
Rico: All thanks to BigHugeLabs. Not that I condone being late but a promise of “goodies” will not ensure punctuality on my end (esp if there are unforeseeable and uncontrollable reasons for the tardiness) since it’s not the reason why I go to these things, if you know what I mean.
Noemi: Yes, I only found out you were there when I saw your post! Quite understandable that you guys had to go home early.
Aileen: Thanks, sweetie. You can check out the photos in my Flickr (sorry!) or my Multiply. About getting stuck on the topic of -O-E, I’m guessing it’s because the two of you have something in common.. I won’t say it for fear of getting it cached in that very thing. Whoopsie. What did I just say?!
Great photos! (and thanks also for the group picture) Nice touching base with you at the event. Inggit ako, you can afford to munch on all those sweets:)
Ajay: Thanks and no worries! Yea, twas great seeing you there again (two consecutive nights, eh? Hehe) About the sweets, I think I simply need the fastest way to gain weight is all.
