Let’s Eat! Nom Nom Nom Nom

By The Parodist | February 25, 2008

Regardless of what everyone else thinks, or the “how I stay thin” theorythat I’m more mindful of taking photographs of my food than eating them — that Brad Geiser came up with, yea, I do love to eat. In fact, I love trying new dishes, which was exactly what I did last week, hence, me summing up the week as a, er, food thing. Whatev. Let me show you why.

Friday

I attended the Coffee gets Naughty Event, wherein Délifrance ushered us into the new phase of the café and resto. There I was able to sample a couple of dishes that they serve. I have to admit I was surprised with the menu, even more when they said that it’s what they really serve their customers. This change is good.

I love the combination of flavours. Seafood, fruit, carrots and the leaf greens. I’m growing to like eating salads lately. I have to say this is Rico’s influence. Heh.

Never had my pasta this way. I’ve always preferred a red sauce. Twas a bit on the oily side but that beats being dry and stringy. I always enjoy eating mushrooms. Hehe.

I also got to taste the Choco Lava thingie. And my friend is recommending that I try their coffee buns, which she swears by. I wonder how that will fare compared to Kopiroti’s. Hmmm. Anyway, perhaps on my next visit.

But, of course, the stars of the night were the spiked coffee. I was able to try the Irish Kiss Baileys which has an exquisite blend of rich espresso, Irish Whiskey, creme, and lemon sugar-kissed rim.

The other naughty drinks are: Sputnik Vodka Espresso, which has a wild fusion of crushed blended ice, aromatic espresso, crystal clear vodka, and lemon sugar; and the Mayan Passion Kahlua, which brings an exotic flavour with its heavy and sweet liqueur mixed with intense espresso, whipped cream, and lemon sugar . All of them can be served hot or on the rocks.

If you want to get a free taste of any (or all) of these spiked concoctions, feel free to visit Délifrance from 03 March 2008 to 07 March 2008 and simply say “Naughty with my coffee” when asked for the password.

Délifrance branches are as follows: AIM Conference Center; Greenbelt; Insular Life Building; RCBC Plaza; SM Makati; Ayala Tower 1; Valero, Makati; Zeta Building, Legazpi Village, Makati; UN Avenue; Robinson’s Place, Manila; Festival Supermall; Alabang Town Center; SM Mall of Asia; The Podium; C5, Libis; St. Luke’s; Greenhills Theater Mall; Roosevelt; and Philippine Heart Center.

Saturday

I needed to buy a pair of slippers for the Vietnam and Cambodia trip I’m taking this week. This errand brought us to Bonifacio High Street, headed towards All Flip-Flops for a pair (or two, rather) of Havaianas. BUT we didn’t stay there. Rico suggested that we check out the new Greenbelt wing, GB5, and have dinner there. We were in one of our more experimental moods, I guess. After strolling around and incessant tummy protesting, we decided to look for a resto. Going up a flight of concrete steps, complete with fauna on each side, outside the 2nd level, we found ourselves on the 3rd level growing more hungry with all the physical exertion. LOL. We then decided to dine at Fish Out of Water.

Rico got himself a Salmon-something pizza and I opted for a meatier meal.

The meat was a bit dry but twas still oh-so-good. It helped that I ate it with tomatoes, bell pepper, onions and the creamy sauce that came with it. I had Thai Iced Tea with it, which I didn’t really like. Weh.

With all this talk of food, I can almost hear my stomach shouting, “feed me! feed me!”. LOL. Not exactly looking forward to eating straight out of the can this morning. Heh. Anyway, have you guys tried anything new lately — whether you’d cooked or simply eaten it? Distract me. Tell me about your latest food trip.
