The Traveler: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Look up. You’ll see that there aren’t many towering skyscrapers in Ho Chi Minh City, aka Saigon. But you will notice that there are quite a number of tall trees scattered around the metro.
You don’t really need to strain your neck, there are a lot of interesting things to see on its streets anyway.

They remind me of the streets of Manila. However, instead of seeing jeepneys, you’ll be seeing a lot of motorcycles. I’m not kidding. I actually got the chance to ride in one. It was an experience that stirred a mixture of fear and excitement. Definitely made the trip a little bit more unique and memorable.
Of course, the trip won’t be complete without a quick trip to the War Remnants Museum.

There are actually quite a number of museums you can visit, you just have to plan your itinerary for the day in order to see them all.
Taking a break to enjoy cold caffeinated drinks and frozen desserts in varied flavours.

And taking photos of the people enjoying them. (Hi, Phoebe!)
There’s even this fascination with chairs.

I guess it’s due to all the walking and waiting. The heat was exhausting.
Of course, if you plan to take a trip to Vietnam, be sure to take with you a pocket guide.

Believe me, it’s really useful!
Note: The trip took place last February 26 to March 03, 2008.
