Try Anne Rice’s vampire books. They made a movie starring Brad Pitt, if Im not mistaken. It was a long time ago. The movie was good but I enjoyed reading the books more.

No worries on the ending, I didn't find it all too bad. Like I said, her way of providing closure (ending) to certain things were not too clearly mapped. Not to discourage you, though, I just didn't really like how Meyer ended it. I'm finally reading Pride and Prejudice! I just finished The Time Traveler's Wife, and it was a good read, but right now I'm willing to tackle Austen so I can finally see what's the big deal with it. :D I used to like the Twilight saga but Breaking Dawn kinda broke it for me.
